Due to New Mexico State statutes and New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) requirements, Gallup‑McKinley County Schools (GMCS) students’ last day of school is June 10, 2026.
David Skeet will be hosting S.T.E.A.M. night tonight from 5 - 6:30 PM. Come interact with fun activities and games! EXPLORA from ABQ, will be out with science, technology, engineering, and math activities. DSE will also have additional art activities for families to participate with. Gym doors will open at 5 PM. We will give out prizes and delicious dinner! SEE YOU TONIGHT!
Due to weather, buses will only pick up and drop off at the nearest paved road , Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
David Skeet Families, please join us for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Monday, February 23 from 10:30 AM-6:00 PM. There will be no school for students that day, as teachers will be meeting with families to discuss student progress. House Bill 253 is being heard 02/09 at 8:30 AM, and your voice matters.
If this bill passes it will cause a $47 million dollar shortfall for GMCS this year - but there is still time to stop this legislation from moving forward. We are asking our community to please call and email members of the House Education Committee and our local legislators and urge them to vote NO on HB 253.
Please know this: GMCS is doing everything within its power to avoid any negative consequences to our students, staff, and community. We are actively advocating, working with legislators, and fighting to protect the funding our students depend on. A few minutes of your time telling our legislators to vote NO on House Bill 253 will make a real difference. Thank you for standing with our students and schools.

David Skeet Families, we invite you to join us for an exciting and interactive Family Writing Night: Escape Room – Spring Into Writing at David Skeet Elementary on Wednesday, February 11 from 5:00–6:30 PM. This fun, hands-on event will give families the opportunity to “crack the code” and escape the room while learning simple and effective ways to support your child’s writing at home. Families will identify important writing skills, play engaging games, and learn strategies to help students succeed in writing, all while enjoying a free dinner and a chance to enter a raffle. We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of learning, teamwork, and family fun as we work together to grow strong writers!

GMCS Schools are on a 1-Hour Delay (01/09). Doors open at 9:30 AM. All students can begin drop-off at 9:30 AM. If your child rides the bus, they will be picked up 1-hour later than their normal time. David Skeet Staff will report at 9:15 AM. Drive safely.
